About Me
Hi Everyone, I’m Vicky Kimble, certified balloon artist & entertainer. I have been working with (and in love with) the wonderful and unique art of balloon sculpting since 1998.
I grew up in Southern California where I was a professional make-up artist. I am a wife and mother first but I discovered balloon art when my kids started school. It was then that I started a Christian Childrens ministry. It had very little to do with balloons at first. One day, I was shopping in my local Kroger supermarket and I saw a bag of balloons that was on clearance from the floral department. I thought it would be a cool thing to add to my repertoire if I could get the hang of it, so I got a book from the library and that was where it all began.
From that point on, I became completely enchanted with the art. I ordered every back issue of Balloon Magic the Magazine, never realizing (but hoping) that someday my work would be featured in it. I began twisting through agencies by dressing in clown. Since I had theatrical make-up background, it was no problem and
with my bal-loony personality, it just came naturally. Although I no
longer dress in clown, it was a great way to get experience working
with balloons.
In 2001, I became a Certified Balloon Artist. I took the courses, never with the intention of doing decor, but I wanted to learn everything possible about the industry. As it turns out, balloon sculpting, by it’s very nature IS decor!!
It wasn’t until 2002 though, that my balloonacy began. I decided to compete at the International Balloon Arts Convention. I wanted to pick every balloon gurus brain in the industry. It was there that I met such wonderful and inspirational people as David Grist, Marvin Hardy, Larry Moss, Royal and Patty Sorrell, Linda Berman, Connie Iden-Monds, and Ken Stillman, just to name a few. My first non-round sculpture took 4th place. Since first, second and third were all from different countries, I felt encouraged to have scored highest in the U.S. That started the fever!! I wasn’t going to rest until I placed. In 2004, I placed third in the non-round category, and in 2005, I was very blessed to take first place at Twist and Shout in the medium sculpture category. Next goal, Top
twister!! I’ll never stop growing, learning and trying to improve
my art. **MET THE GOAL ...At Twist and Shout 2006, I took first
place in the small an medium competitions and became the 2006 Top
Twister.
I currently entertain regularly in restaurants, do entertainment and decor for corporate work as well as private functions, delivery pieces and educational classes.
I am also in the process of releasing my first instructional video,
"Vicky Kimble's Twisted Garden". It will be released at 2006 Summer
Balloon Camp where I will also be teaching a class with the same name.
I will also be introducing "Balloosion". This is what I call the art
form that uses uninflated balloons with other materials to create
balloon sculpters which last the lif of the balloon....YEARS AND YEARS
AND YEARS!!!
More to come....
A world of thanks to my family for all their love and support. I am so
blessed that I love what I do, but the ultimate glory must go to God. I
am very thankful to be able to use the gifts he has given me. Life is
good!!
Thanks so much for your interest
